BRUCE McDONALD, President and CEO
Bruce is president and CEO of McDonald Property Group, a privately owned regional development firm. During his 35-year career he has focused on industrial developments throughout Southern California, with extensive experience in forming institutional joint ventures and delivering full service development activities.
His background includes the development of 12 million square feet of commercial space that is valued in excess of $1 billion. He has extensive experience in negotiating major leases and build-to-suit transactions, and has strong real estate management experience.
Bruce was the President of Master Development Corporation (MDC), a regional commercial development firm he co-founded in 1995 and continuously operated through 2010. He was responsible for overseeing joint venture equity, debt financing, and development and construction activity while at MDC.
From 2010 to 2013, Bruce was managing director and head of US Investments for DEXUS Property Group (ASX: DXS). He oversaw all US REIT operations in this capacity, including development, financial reporting, and asset and property management activities. He headed up the $1.5 billion sale of the entire US REIT for DEXUS, including a $770 million portfolio sale to Blackstone and a $560 million disposition of properties and REIT shares to Heitman.
Bruce is also the managing member and partner of Thoroughbred Properties, Inc., an active industrial property management company, and the Summit House Restaurant, a fine dining restaurant located in Fullerton, California, which he co-founded in 1991.
Bruce graduated from Stanford University in 1978 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Science. He holds both a current California General Contractor B-1 License and a Real Estate Broker License, and is a LEED Green Associate.
DAVE WALKER, Vice President, Construction
Dave Walker provides senior construction management for McDonald Property Group. Dave and Bruce McDonald have worked together since 1996. While at MDC, Dave was directly responsible for all work MDC delivered as the General Contractor and Developer.
Dave completed 27 projects, over 200 buildings and approximately 8 million SF while at MDC. In addition, Dave was directly involved with several complex interior design/build projects at MDC including: a $6 million custom interior and advanced “pick” system for a computer configuration company, 80,000 square feet of freezer/chill improvements for a food distribution company, an $8 million shell and interior modification project for Fresh Start Bakeries in Ontario, a 507,000 square foot LEED certified freezer building for Wal-Mart Stores in Riverside ($67M total project cost) and a 10 megawatt solar array Southern California Edison project on the Whirlpool building in Perris- the largest rooftop installation in North America.
Before joining MDC, Dave served as a senior construction project manager for Birtcher Construction Company. While at Birtcher, he managed the construction of 10 mid- and high-rise office projects totaling 1.75 million square feet.
Dave graduated from Claremont Men’s College in 1976 with an accounting degree. He is a licensed general contractor in the state of California and has LEED Green Associate accreditation.
KAREN HICKEY, Chief Operating Officer
Karen Hickey provides senior operations management, leasing and property management for McDonald Property Group, having worked with Bruce McDonald since 1999.
She has a 26-year background in real estate, and has negotiated and closed more than five million SF of leases and sale transactions during her career. Karen currently manages two million SF as president of Thoroughbred Properties, Inc., an affiliate property management company of McDonald Property Group.
Karen was previously vice president of asset management at DEXUS, responsible for managing teams of third party property managers, brokers and construction managers for the West Coast portfolio. During her tenure with Master Development Corporation, she managed leasing and property management functions for 3 million SF of industrial assets under management. Prior to MDC, she worked with LBA Realty.
Karen holds a California Real Estate License, Certified Property Management designation from the Institute of Real Estate Management, and has received LEED Green Associate accreditation.
DONNA SHIN, Development Manager
Donna provides development and construction management for McDonald Property Group and is responsible for overseeing a wide range of different development and construction projects from beginning to end including contract administration, construction status reports for tenants and capital partners, and project closeout for each project. While at MPG, Donna has worked on 9 buildings totaling 3 million SF.
Before joining MPG, Donna worked as a Project Manager for DHL Express.
Donna received her Bachelor’s Degree in Liberal Studies from California State University, Northridge and a Certificate of Construction Management from UCLA Extension.
JENNY KRAUS, Senior Accounting & Property Manager
After growing up in East Germany and immigrating to the US in her teenage years, Jenny received her Bachelor’s Degree in International Studies at the University of California, Irvine.
While working at Billabong Inc. for 7 years, she acquired a great deal of Accounting experience and realized this was a path she wanted to pursue more seriously.
Later, she joined LBA as her first real estate experience with a role as a corporate Accountant. Now at McDonald Property Group, Jenny is the Accounting Manager responsible for all accounting matters from property management, construction and corporate financial reporting matters.
With a college competitive swimming background, Jenny’s athletics remain and large aspect of her life. She has evolved as a premier endurance athlete, competing in triathlon and running events.
